Earlier this week I uncovered five of the coolest Xbox 360 casemods, and after continuing my search for the best console mods I've found some of the best created for the PlayStation 3. It was slightly more difficult finding interesting casemods for Sony's shiny black console (though the Wii will most likely prove the most difficult), but after much research I think I've uncovered five of the best. So read on for the top five PS3 mods, and which one took the crown.
#5: Another Mod to Die For
This PS3 mod by Jerry Thampan looks very similar to the bloody Xbox 360 mod, but this one makes #5 because it just doesn't look as cool as its 360 counterpart. The other bloody mod actually looked as if it had been used as a murder weapon, while this one (as cool as it is) looks more like it was just painted on.

#4: The GrillStation
Admit it, you saw this one coming. The GrillStation got a lot of attention back when the PS3 was new and requred the selling of a kidney to be affordable. Well, it's still funny, and it actually works, so it makes #4.

#3: The Mod from Space
This mod by Valiant Tats is freaky. Ridley Scott would be proud. Something like this wouldn't work on the 360, because the slick black surface of the PS3 is perfect for this type of mod. I want this, and I want it bad.

#2: The Ubisoft Mods
CCC created both of these mods for Ubisoft, and each of them rock. The attention to detail in both of them is astounding, but of the two I'd have to say the FarCry 2 mod is my favorite. It reflects the game perfectly.

#1: Steampunk PlayStation
I'll admit it was a close call, but I had to give this steampunk-style casemod the crown simply because it is original and it reminds me of the weapons in BioShock. I've never seen a mod look quite like this, it's extraordinarily clever. Plus, steampunk is way cool.
